Portraits

Common Denominator

‘I’m interested in seriality and how twins are serialised … The weird thing about being a twin is that you can’t get away from being a twin.’

How do I select people to take part in a Dialogic Portraits project? Following discussions with ‘People Like You’ colleagues I decided to increase the number of people I had originally planned to invite. I hoped to create glimpses of a range of ideas through many encounters with sitters.

I try to avoid choosing sitters in relation to conventional categories, for instance, by job or citizenship.

Occasionally people who contributed to other projects I was working on simultaneously overlapped with People Like You, either because of the portrait I’d made of them, their recording, or because of continuing conversations we were having that informed my thinking for People Like You. This was true of the one person in this sequence who is familiar to each of the others.
